I first saw "Betty Blue" back in the 90's, when I was going through my romantic-broody European phase (Still going through it, btw). The movie is super visual, and kind of porny, with a touch of absurdness and a huge dose of sad-vivid-tragic-passionate-manic-exciting-terrifying-depressing feels, scenes...and characters. In other words: my kind of movie. The soundtrack, by Gabriel Yared, (specifically the track "C'est le vent, Betty") has a perfect melancholy feel- Sometimes you gotta put on the moody tunes, pour a big glass of red, and luxuriate in the beauty of the gloom. Cheers!
